Juan Griego
Half a day to a full day: watch the sunset from Fortín de la Galera, walk the bay and browse the duty-free shops. Not a base — sleep in Porlamar or Pampatar.
Juan Griego is a small coastal town on the north shore of Margarita Island, known for its 17th-century fort, wide bay and sunset views. Most visitors come for a few hours or one night. The town has a handful of beaches, a small museum and a strip of shops selling imported goods at lower prices thanks to the free-port status. It works best as a half-day stop on a Margarita Island road trip.
