Notes and caveats

Jamaica's two rainy seasons behave differently. May brings heavy showers, and the island stays green and warm. October and November are wetter and carry the real storm risk; October is the wettest month on the north coast. The south coast sits in the rain shadow of the Blue Mountains, so Kingston and Treasure Beach are drier than Port Antonio, which is the wettest coast on the island.

Altitude changes everything in the Blue Mountains: expect 10–20 °C, mist and afternoon rain, and near-freezing temperatures on Blue Mountain Peak at dawn. Pack a layer even in the dry season.
