Hiroshima was rebuilt after the 1945 atomic bombing and now centres on the Peace Memorial Park and Museum. The Atomic Bomb Dome and the Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima island are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city is also known for its layered okonomiyaki.
