The Hebrides are two island groups split by the Minch: the Inner Hebrides (Skye, Mull, Islay, Iona) sit close to the mainland and take 3–5 hours from Glasgow; the Outer Hebrides (Lewis, Harris, the Uists, Barra) need a ferry or a flight and reward a slower, longer trip. Trying to cover both in one week means most of it on ferries. Choose one side, book the ferry with the accommodation, and accept that weather can rewrite the plan.

Hebrides: Oceanic and windy; rarely very cold but rain arrives any month. May–June and September are the quietest windows; July–August is peak and Skye and Mull feel it. Winter is dark, storm-prone and quiet, with a chance of Northern Lights.
