The honest verdict

Hargeisa has few formal sights and many practical rules: an entry document arranged before you fly, a local driver, dress and alcohol rules, and an escort for any trip out of town. The trips that go wrong are the ones with a late flight and no pickup, cash that runs out because cards do not work, or a plan that leaves town without the escort. Four small areas cover the centre, the main market, the livestock market and the airport-road hotels.
