Goldfields–Esperance is bigger than France and holds two different trips. The northern half is desert mining country around Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie, reached by the Prospector train from Perth in under 7 hours. The southern half is farmland and granite coast around Esperance, reached by a 1.5-hour flight or a long drive. There is no train or useful bus between them, so most travellers choose one and save the other for a second trip.
