Know before you go
- The cable car climbs the west face of the Rock to a top station at roughly 400 metres, in a ride of a few minutes. Wind, low cloud and the Levanter cloud stop it, and it can close at short notice.
- The top station has a viewing terrace and a café. From there paths lead to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, where the macaques live and the paths are steep: bring water and shoes with grip.
- Ticket options vary between cable car only and bundles with the Upper Rock sites: check what you are buying, and consider a return versus one-way if you want to walk down.
