Emmaville is a former tin-mining village of about 500 people in the New England tablelands, 68 km north-west of Glen Innes. It has a mining museum, a preserved tin and arsenic mine site, two pubs with rooms and gem festivals. Private transport is essential: there is no taxi and no local bus, and the nearest car rental is in Glen Innes.

Getting around

Drive. There is no taxi and no local bus in Emmaville, and the nearest car rental agency is in Glen Innes. A Michael Jillett bus (Route 17N) links Glen Innes Visitor Information Centre and the Emmaville Post Office on weekdays only: 13:00 out, 09:00 back, about 45 min, bookings essential. Fuel: Hayward's, 31 O'Donnell Street, Mon–Fri 07:00–17:00, Sat 07:00–14:00, Sun closed.
