Neighborhoods in detail
Downtown Dallas is compact and mostly walkable in the core, though summer heat makes short rideshares common. It holds the Arts District, Klyde Warren Park on the edge of Uptown, the Sixth Floor Museum and the convention centre. Hotel supply is large, so midweek business rates can be good value; weekends with a game or convention are not.
Uptown sits just north of downtown across Klyde Warren Park. It has the densest cluster of restaurants and bars in the city and a free trolley line along McKinney Avenue. It suits travellers who want to walk to dinner and take a short rideshare to the museums.
The Galleria area and North Dallas are car-first: malls, offices and chain hotels with free or cheap parking. Las Colinas in Irving is close to DFW airport and popular for one-night airport stays.
