Dallas airport to city centre: trains, buses, taxis and costs

Dallas is a small city in Paulding County, northwest Georgia, roughly 50 km from downtown Atlanta. It has no airport and no rail link, so every route from a plane to Dallas runs on the road. The table below compares the realistic choices from ATL.

Prices are 2026 estimates and move with demand, time of day and traffic. Allow extra time between 07:00 and 09:00 and 16:00 and 19:00, when the interstates into and out of Atlanta slow down.

ATL has designated pickup zones for app-based rides; follow the signs from baggage claim to the rideshare area rather than hailing at the kerb. A trip to Dallas, Georgia typically runs 45–60 minutes outside peak hours and costs about US$60–100 in a standard car. Surge pricing at busy arrival times can push that higher, so check the app before you commit.

Taxis wait at the official ranks outside the terminals. Expect US$80–120 to Dallas, paid by card or cash. Tipping of 15–20% is normal on both taxis and rideshares and is usually added in the app.

There is no direct train or bus from ATL to Dallas, Georgia. The nearest rail is MARTA, Atlanta's metro, which serves the airport and central Atlanta but does not reach Paulding County. A workable budget route is MARTA from the airport to a northern or western station, then a local bus or a short rideshare onward to Dallas.

This takes roughly 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes depending on connections and is only sensible in daylight with light luggage. Parking in downtown Dallas is generally free or cheap compared with Atlanta. If you are only visiting Dallas for a day, driving from an Atlanta base is straightforward outside rush hour.

Budget US$60–100 each way by rideshare, US$80–120 by taxi, and US$10–25 per person on the transit-plus-rideshare combination. A rental car plus fuel for a two-day trip often works out cheaper than four rideshare legs if you are two or more people.
