Central Uganda is the country's administrative and commercial core, wrapped around Kampala and Lake Victoria. Most travellers pass through on the way to the gorillas or the savanna parks, but the region itself holds the airport, the lakeside town of Entebbe, the Ssese Islands and the market town of Masaka. Kampala / Entebbe: Two wet seasons (roughly Mar–May and Sep–Nov); rain is often a short afternoon downpour. Temperatures stay mild year-round at this altitude.
