Give Bremen one full day and one night: the market square, Böttcherstraße and Schnoor are a 3-hour walk, and the rest is museums.

Rules in force · 7Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window…
- Europe ↗Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window, counted across all 29 Schengen states together — not per country; the Entry/Exit System now logs each crossing, so an overstay is detected automatically.
- Europe ↗On the first Schengen entry since EES began, non-EU travellers give four fingerprints and a face photo at the border instead of a passport stamp; there is nothing to apply for or pay in advance.
- Central Europe ↗Six of the nine countries here — Austria, Switzerland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia — charge a time-based motorway vignette, mostly digital and linked to the number plate; buy it before the first motorway past the border, because cameras, not toll booths, do the checking.
- Central Europe ↗Temporary police checks at internal Schengen borders are common in this region in 2026 (Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovenia among others — check): keep your passport on you on every cross-border train, bus and road even though there is no fixed control post.
- Germany ↗Germany is in the EU and the Schengen area: check entry rules, the EU Entry/Exit System and any travel authorisation requirement for your passport on official sources.
- Germany ↗Nazi symbols and gestures are criminal offences, including as jokes or souvenirs.
- Germany ↗Many city centres are low-emission zones: a car needs the right sticker (Umweltplakette) to enter.
Bremen is a compact Hanseatic city on the Weser, 1 hour by train from Hamburg. The UNESCO-listed Town Hall, Roland statue, Böttcherstraße and Schnoor quarter sit within 15 minutes of each other, so a single day covers the core. Add a second day only for the Universum science centre, the Überseestadt harbour museums or a Weser bike ride.

Watch out
Safety
- Tickets on regional trains must be bought before boarding; on trams and buses you can buy on board for a little more.
- Night trams and buses (marked N) run only on Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday nights, leaving the Hauptbahnhof at :30 each hour.
- The Schnoor lanes are cobbled and narrow: wheeled luggage is awkward there.
- Some Weser riverbank paths flood after heavy rain; check local signage.

Not a trip line yet
This is a basic guide: no airport-to-bed contract, walking clusters or day plans are published for Bremen. Airport, fare and schedule details are unverified; check the operators before you fly.

- Best months: May–Sep · avoid Nov–Feb (grey, wet, 4–6 °C) · month by month →
- 3 airports and 4 areas to sleep in
- Weather: a 7-day forecast and monthly averages
- Cost per day in 3 bands

Coming as the guide grows
- Airport-to-bed contract for BRE: last tram times field-checked, taxi fallback, overnight rung.
- Four walking clusters with rescue anchors: Marktplatz, Schnoor, the Wallanlagen and the Viertel.
- Place pages with verified cutoffs (Town Hall tours, Dom tower, Universum, Kunsthalle) and eat pages with last orders.
- Hostile-weather fixtures so rainy days route to museums instead of the river.
