Barbados is small: roughly 34 km from north to south and 23 km across at the widest. That is why the standard advice is one base plus day trips rather than a moving tour. Buses run along the main coasts, and a single island tour covers the interior sights you cannot reach easily on foot.

At 10 days, split the trip. Take five nights on the west coast at Holetown or Speightstown for calm swimming water and the catamaran departures, then five nights on the south coast for restaurants, bars and bus links. Move once, mid-trip, and keep the transfer short — the drive between the two coasts is well under an hour outside rush hour.

If you would rather stay in Barbados for the full two weeks, spend the second week on the east coast around Bathsheba for surf and scenery, or add nights in Speightstown. The east coast is rougher water and quieter; it suits a slower second half.

A driving day from the south coast can take in Bridgetown and the Garrison, the west coast through Holetown and Speightstown, and the east coast around Bathsheba.
