Ambernathअंबरनाथ
Skip Ambernath as a destination: it is a commuter suburb with one notable temple. If you are in Thane or Kalyan, the Shiv Mandir is worth a 90-minute detour; otherwise, spend your time elsewhere in North Konkan.
Ambernath is a fast-growing Mumbai suburb best known for the 11th-century Shiv Mandir, a Hemadpanti-style temple carved from a single black stone. The town has little else for travellers: no hotels worth naming, few restaurants and heavy traffic. Most visitors come from Thane or Kalyan for the temple and leave the same day.
