Yulara is the resort village just outside Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, built in the 1980s as the accommodation base for the rock. Everything — hotels, campground, supermarket, fuel, galleries — sits on a 3 km loop road, with free shuttles and walkable paths. You come here for two or three nights, not a week: the park is the point, and the village empties each afternoon while tours are out viewing Uluru.

Getting around
The whole resort loop is 3 km and flat; paths over the central sand dune link the two sides but are unpaved. A free shuttle runs between all hotels and the campground roughly every 15 minutes. For Uluru and Kata Tjuta you need a car, a tour, or a shuttle — the park entrance is about 20 km from the village and there is no public bus.

- Fuel is the only cheap thing — fill up here, it is the last station for hundreds of kilometres, and it is not open 24 hours.
