Yby Yaú
Skip unless you are driving Route PY03/PY05 and need a meal stop or a Cerro Memby climb. Half a day covers the hill or a spa.
Yby Yaú is a truck-stop town at the junction of Routes PY03 and PY05, 367 km from Asunción. Its main draw is Cerro Memby, a 325 m hill with a fixed-rope scramble and Paraguay's first multi-pitch rock climb. Most travellers pass through in 2–3 hours for the climb or a meal. The town has a handful of bars, restaurants and small spas, but no tourism infrastructure beyond that.

- South America ↗Overnight buses are the norm in Argentina, Chile and Peru, but pick top-tier companies and keep valuables on your body; on-board thefts from overhead racks are the common loss.
