The Western Waterlands is Kentucky's far-west corner, where Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley sit either side of Land Between the Lakes. It is a driving region: no train reaches the lakes, and the small towns are 20–60 minutes apart. Sleep in Paducah for food and a walkable downtown, or at Kentucky Dam Village / Gilbertsville for the water. Two nights is enough for the lakes; three if you add Paducah's museums and the Mississippi River towns.
