Vanino is a small Pacific port town in the Russian Far East, the easternmost point of the Russian rail network and a gateway to Sakhalin via a daily overnight ferry. Its attractions are limited to the harbour area, a supermarket and a single hotel, so a half‑day visit suffices unless you board the ferry, which warrants an overnight stay.
