The paseos are the local signature: more than 30 km of car-free paths threading behind the housing villages, with underpasses at the main roads. Pick up a map at the Town Center or follow the signs from Bridgeport Park. The loop around Bridgeport Lake is flat, partly shaded and good for an easy hour.
Valencia Town Center is the main mall, with shops, a cinema and restaurants on Town Center Drive. It is the default answer when it rains or when the temperature passes 35 °C. Santa Clarita's public library branches and the performing-arts venues in Newhall are other indoor fallbacks.
Six Flags Magic Mountain, just north of Valencia off the I-5, is the reason many people come: a large coaster park with seasonal hours. Buy dated tickets online, arrive at opening, and expect weekends in summer to be crowded.
