Ubay

Use Ubay as a ferry gateway to Leyte or a quiet stop on a Bohol loop: half a day to see the port and town, or one night if you catch the afternoon ferry.

Ubay is a small port town on Bohol's northeast coast, the main ferry link to Leyte (Bato). It has a handful of eateries, a 24-hour ATM and basic lodgings. Most travellers pass through for the 1 pm ferry or use it as a low-key base to explore northern Bohol.

Watch out

Safety

Ubay is a quiet provincial town with low crime. The main risk is ferry cancellation during typhoon season; always check the weather and have a backup route.
  • The Medallion Transport ferry to Bato departs at 1 pm daily (check); arrive at the port by 12:30.
  • Typhoons can cancel ferries between June and October; have a backup plan.
  • ATMs are limited to the PNB Bank on Col Maliano Garces Street; bring enough cash if you stay overnight.
