Twin Falls is the biggest city in South Central Idaho and the base for the Magic Valley: a 65 m waterfall on the Snake River, a canyon that BASE jumpers use year-round, and a WWII internment site 20 minutes north. Sights sit 10–30 minutes apart and the city bus is a request-based micro-transit, so a car decides what you actually see. Two nights is the working answer; three if you add Hagerman or a canyon hike.

Getting around

A car is effectively required for anything beyond walking distance. RIDE TFT is a point-to-point micro-transit you book in an app or by phone: $3 per trip before 21:00, $10 after, $10 to the airport, no Sunday or holiday service. Taxis exist but do not cruise; book one. Rental desks sit at the airport.

Watch out

Safety

Twin Falls is a low-crime regional city; the real risks are traffic on Blue Lakes Boulevard and Pole Line Road, heat on canyon trails in July and August, and unlit US-93 south of town at night.
  • Traffic around Blue Lakes Boulevard and Pole Line Road runs heavier than the city size suggests; Perrine Bridge is the only way in from the north.
  • Shoshone Falls flow drops to a trickle in summer once irrigation and hydropower take the water; check the current flow before driving out.
  • The falls road can close for ice and poor conditions in winter.
  • Bungee jumping off Perrine Bridge is not allowed; BASE jumping is, year-round and without a permit.
  • Cell signal thins out south of Jackpot on US-93 toward Wells and Ely.
