Tutrakan is a small Danube fishing port halfway between Ruse and Silistra, known for the 1916 Battle of Turtucaia and its military cemetery. Sights cluster by the river in the north of town and take a few hours; the cemetery is 9 km south and needs a car or bike. Services are limited, so treat it as a stop on a Danube drive, not a destination.
