Troy is a half-day stop for the Pioneer Museum and arboretum, not a base. One night if visiting Troy University or passing US 231 between Montgomery and Dothan.
Troy is the county seat of Pike County and home of Troy University, set halfway along US 231 between Montgomery and Dothan. Its main draws are the Pioneer Museum of Alabama, a living-history site, and the Troy Arboretum on campus. Most travellers pass through on the way to the Gulf Coast or use it as a quiet overnight stop.
