Where are you travelling?
Pick the country you are going to. We only show rules we read on an official page.
Choose a country above to see what it says about a child travelling without a parent.
Fill in the letter
Everything you type is kept in this browser only — nothing is sent to us or anywhere else. You can clear it any time by clearing your browser data.
Still to fill in: the child's full name, who is travelling with the child, the parent or guardian signing the letter, a phone number an official can call, the departure date, the country you are travelling to. You can print the letter as it is and write the rest in by hand.
Your letter
Print it or copy it. It is one page, in plain English, and you can sign it by hand once printed.
Papers to carry
Tick them off as you pack. Your ticks are kept in this browser only.
Some countries ask for the letter to be notarised. We have not seen that in the page we checked, so check the destination before you travel.

Rules change. Check the official page for your destination again before you travel, and carry the letter with a copy of the child's birth certificate and passport.
