Southwestern Georgia is two regions in one: Ajara, with Batumi as its port city and beach hub, and Guria, greener and quieter, with Ureki's magnetic sand and the mountain resort of Bakhmaro. Batumi is the only place with a full spread of hotels, restaurants and transport, so most travellers sleep there and treat the rest as day-trips. Two nights covers Batumi and Gonio; four nights lets you add Ureki or a mountain run. The coast is humid and wet year-round, so plan around rain rather than around a single best month.
