South Konkan is the southern coast of Maharashtra, a strip of palm-fringed beaches, 17th-century Maratha sea forts, and cashew-and-coconut villages between the Sahyadris and the Arabian Sea. The region runs from Dapoli down to the Goa border. Most visitors sleep in Ratnagiri (the transport hub) or Malvan (the beach-and-snorkel base) and day-trip to Ganpatipule, Guhagar, Devgad, Vengurla and Amboli.
