  Honiara lies in the lee of the mountains and is drier than most of the country; December–March is hot, humid and the peak of the cyclone season.

  Rain in every month with short showers; visibility for diving is often best from August to December (check with your dive shop).

• Malaita and the outer islands · Auki, Langa Langa, Rennell, Temotufine

  Very wet on the windward coasts; shipping and flights stop in bad weather.
