About these names
The Vardar splits the centre. On the north bank the Old Bazaar and Kale Fortress rise toward the fortress hill, with Bit Pazar market a short walk east. On the south bank Macedonia Square is the hub, with the Stone Bridge connecting the two. Debar Maalo, the restaurant quarter, lies west of the centre, roughly a 12-minute taxi from the square.
