Simcoe County is a 4,800 km² mix of lakes, ski hills and small towns about 1.5 hours north of Toronto. It draws roughly 8 million visitors a year, mostly for summer water sports on Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay and winter skiing at Blue Mountain. Sights sit 30–60 minutes apart on a grid of highways, so a car decides your trip: without one you are limited to Barrie, Orillia and the towns on the LINX bus network.
