The Bund is a promenade, not a quiet park: evenings are crowded, especially Friday to Sunday and on holidays. Walk south of Yan'an East Road for a thinner crowd and the same view.
For a quieter evening, cross to the Lujiazui side and look back at the Bund's colonial facades, which are lit until late. Riverside seating there is limited; arrive before 19:00 if you want a bench.
Dress for wind. The riverfront is exposed and noticeably cooler than the lanes behind it, even in spring and autumn.
