The bridge, Crissy Field and the Presidio connect on foot; Lands End continues west from the Presidio through Sea Cliff. Golden Gate Park runs inland from the ocean, and the Embarcadero and Ferry Building sit on the bay side, about 5 km east of the bridge.
You do not need a car. Muni buses and light rail cover all of these; a single ride is about US$2.75 (2026 estimate) and a day pass costs more but pays off after three rides. Walking between the bridge and the Ferry Building along the waterfront takes roughly 2 hours at an easy pace.
