Getting there and around
San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is about 13 km north of downtown; a taxi or rideshare to a downtown hotel usually takes 15–25 minutes depending on traffic. VIA runs bus route 5 from the airport to downtown, which is the cheapest option if you are not in a hurry.
Once downtown, walk. The core is flat and the River Walk's stairs and ramps connect the street level to the water. For the Missions, a car, rideshare or VIA bus is realistic; the sites are too far apart to cover on foot in one day.
If you are arriving from another US city, morning flights into SAT leave you the full afternoon; a late arrival is better spent on the River Walk and dinner than on a rushed Alamo visit.
