Salcete is the most developed taluka in South Goa, with Margao as its transport and business hub. The beaches (Colva, Benaulim) are a short bus or taxi ride away, and the inland villages (Loutulim) hold Portuguese-era mansions and spice plantations. Sleeping in Margao gives you train and bus connections; sleeping on the beach costs more but puts you steps from the sand.
