It is not a resort village like Mont-Tremblant: it is where the region shops, eats and rents a bed, with a beach, a rail-trail and ski hills within a 25-minute drive. Two nights suits lake-and-trail travellers; one night suits anyone breaking the drive north.

Get around
The centre is walkable in 15–20 minutes end to end. Everything else — Mont Blanc, the ski centres, the highway strip — needs a car or a taxi; there is no local transit network worth planning around. Le Petit Train du Nord rail-trail starts in town and runs south toward Montréal and north toward Mont-Laurier.
