Real de Catorce is a former silver boom town at about 2,700 m in the Chihuahuan desert, now a Pueblo Mágico with roughly 1,400 residents. You enter through the Ogarrio Tunnel, a narrow single-lane passage that sets the pace for the whole visit. One night covers the town; two lets you add a mine, the cemetery and a desert ride.

Getting around
On foot inside town; cars are not allowed to drive in the centre. Streets are hilly cobblestone, so wear shoes with grip. For distant sites use a horse, donkey or mule, or a Willys Jeep tour; Jeeps line up near Plaza Hidalgo and outside the Ogarrio Tunnel.

Safety

- Nights are cold year-round; bring a jacket even in summer.
- The Ogarrio Tunnel is single-lane and coordinated by staff at each end; expect a queue in high season (Oct and Apr).
- Oversize vehicles (RVs, large vans, big trucks) must park outside the tunnel and transfer by local transport.
- Cobblestone streets and steep hills are hard going for anyone with mobility issues.
