Te Awamutu is a small service town in the Waikato region, 30 km south of Hamilton on State Highway 3. Its main attractions – the rose gardens, Te Awamutu Museum and nearby volcanic cones – can be seen in 4‑6 hours, making a day‑trip sufficient. Use it as a base for short drives to Cambridge, Pirongia or the Waitomo caves.
