The town centre is small and walkable; the real draws — Conisbrough Castle, Brodsworth Hall, Yorkshire Wildlife Park — sit 4–8 miles out and need a bus or car. Most travellers pass through, sleep one night, or come for the September St Leger meeting.

Safety

A normal UK town for safety: watch for drink-fuelled trouble around Market Place and Silver Street on weekend nights, and mind traffic on the A1(M) and M18. Emergency 999; NHS non-urgent 111.
