Osoyoos sits in Canada's only desert, on the warmest freshwater lake in the country, 400 km east of Vancouver at the junction of Highways 97 and 3. It is a summer lake-and-wine town of about 5,100 people, not a sightseeing city: two nights covers the beach, one winery afternoon and the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre. Most travellers arrive by car, and a car is the practical way to reach the wineries and the Anarchist Mountain viewpoint.
