- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- United States ↗Check whether you need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) or a visa on the official CBP and State Department sites; apply only through esta.cbp.dhs.gov, not third-party sites, and allow time before you book.
- United States ↗Several popular national parks use timed-entry or vehicle reservations in peak season; check each park's page on nps.gov and book on recreation.gov before fixing your dates.
- United States ↗Medical care is very expensive for visitors; buy travel insurance with high medical cover before you fly.
- United States ↗Tipping is expected: about 15–20% at sit-down restaurants and bars, and a tip for taxis, hotel staff and guides.
Canton is a mid-sized Ohio city in Stark County, about an hour south of Cleveland by car, and it is the birthplace of professional football. The Pro Football Hall of Fame anchors a day, with the McKinley monument and museum, the National First Ladies' Library and a small classic-car museum filling a second. Sights sit along Market Avenue and I-77, so a car or a taxi call is the practical way to move between them. Most travellers pass through in one night on the way between Cleveland and Columbus, or stop for a Hall of Fame game or enshrinement weekend.

Getting around
SARTA buses cover Stark County with hourly service on main routes, a $1.50 fare and a transfer centre at 112 Cherry Ave SE; Route 115 runs to Akron-Canton Airport and Route 81 is an express to downtown Akron. Buses run every day of the year. Taxis must be called, not hailed — allow at least 30 minutes. A car is the simplest option for the Hall of Fame, the McKinley museum and Belden Village, all of which sit off the highway rather than in the centre.

Watch out
Safety
- Taxis are call-only; book 30 minutes ahead or you will wait.
- Hall of Fame hours shorten outside summer (Memorial Day–Labor Day); check before a late-afternoon visit.
- Enshrinement week in late July–early August fills hotels and raises rates; book months ahead or avoid it.
- Some central blocks south and east of downtown are best avoided after dark; ask your hotel for the current picture.
- Winter ice and lake-effect snow can slow I-77 between Cleveland and Canton.

- Walking clusters with rescue anchors: Market Avenue downtown, the Hall of Fame and Fulton Road, Belden Village.
- Place pages with verified hours and last entry for the Hall of Fame, McKinley museum, First Ladies' Library and Classic Car Museum.
- Enshrinement-week fixtures so the late-July crowd surge is priced and flagged.
