Lund is a harbour village of about 240 people at the northern end of Highway 101 on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, 22 km north of Powell River. It is the road's mile zero and the launch point for Savary Island, Okeover Inlet and Desolation Sound. There is almost nothing to see in the village itself: you come for water, kayaks and quiet, and you need a car or a boat for most of it.

Getting around

The townsite is walkable in minutes. A car or boat is needed for Okeover Arm, the trailheads and anything outside the harbour. BC Transit runs a Powell River–Lund route only a few days a week, so do not build a trip on it without checking the current timetable.

Safety

Very safe. The real risks are cold water, fast-changing coastal weather and remote roads: wear a life jacket on the water, tell someone your plan, and carry fuel and water before leaving Powell River.
  • Most restaurants and the resort run reduced hours or close from October to spring: check before you drive up.
  • Public transit does not stop at the Savary Island ferry terminal in Lund.
  • Water taxis to Savary Island need advance booking outside July–August.
  • Cell coverage and fuel are limited north of Powell River; fill up and download maps before you leave.
