Susuman is a coal-mining town of about 6,000 people on the Kolyma Highway, 650 km from Magadan. It has no major sights — a park, a plane-fronted aviation club building, and concrete mining offices. Most travellers pass through on the road between Magadan and Yakutsk, stopping for a night at the bus-station hotel.
