It is a county-hub stop, not a destination: a restored downtown square, one historic house, a rail-trail trailhead and a handful of diners. Most travellers pass through on the way to Columbus, Springfield or Dayton, and one day covers it.

Getting around

A car is the practical way in and around: I-70 and US-40 both pass the town, and the sights sit a few minutes apart. Downtown is walkable in 10–15 minutes end to end. There is no useful local bus for visitors; check the county transit agency if you have no car.

London is a quiet county town and violent crime is rare. The real risks are driving: winter ice on I-70 and US-40, deer at dusk on rural roads, and no street lighting on the trail after dark.
  • Small-town pace: many downtown shops and the diner close by early evening and on Sundays.
  • Winter ice on I-70 and US-40; summer heat and humidity in Jul–Aug.
  • No rideshare guarantee outside Columbus: arrange a taxi or drive yourself.
  • The Prairie Grass Trail trailhead is behind the Madison County Senior Center, southwest of town: easy to miss.
