Major city · United States
Texarkana
One night is enough: see the state-line downtown and museums, then use it as an I-30 or Amtrak stop between Dallas and Little Rock.
Texarkana is two cities in one: the west side sits in Texas, the east side in Arkansas, and State Line Avenue runs along the border. It is a small, spread-out stop on I-30 and the Amtrak Texas Eagle, worth a night for the border-line downtown, a couple of museums and barbecue, not a multi-day base.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- United States ↗Check whether you need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) or a visa on the official CBP and State Department sites; apply only through esta.cbp.dhs.gov, not third-party sites, and allow time before you book.
- United States ↗Several popular national parks use timed-entry or vehicle reservations in peak season; check each park's page on nps.gov and book on recreation.gov before fixing your dates.
- United States ↗Medical care is very expensive for visitors; buy travel insurance with high medical cover before you fly.
- United States ↗Tipping is expected: about 15–20% at sit-down restaurants and bars, and a tip for taxis, hotel staff and guides.

A car is the practical choice: sights, hotels and food are spread along I-30 and Richmond Road. T-Line runs a small city bus network with roughly hourly departures — check the timetable before relying on it. Downtown is walkable once you park.

Watch out
Safety
- Almost all hotels sit by the interstate, far from downtown — plan a car or rideshare.
- The Texas side uses area code 903, the Arkansas side 870; local calls can cross a state line.
- Summer heat and humidity are real; carry water if you walk downtown.
- T-Line buses are infrequent — check the last departure before an evening out.
