Parry Sound is a town of about 7,000 on the east shore of Georgian Bay, halfway between Toronto and Sudbury, and the hub of the 30,000 Islands — one of the world's largest freshwater archipelagos. Summer cottagers swell the population. Come for boat and seaplane sightseeing, provincial-park beaches and the Festival of the Sound; the town itself is small and walkable.

Downtown is walkable; the Waterfront Fitness Trail and Seguin Trails cover short hikes and rides. For anything beyond town you need a car — taxis are the only public transport. Ontario Northland and FlixBus stop here, and VIA Rail's The Canadian calls at two stations about 1 km apart (eastbound at 70 Church St, westbound at 1 Avenue Road).
