Santo Domingo
Skip unless you need a quiet beach stop near Legazpi or are chasing whale sharks along the Albay Gulf coast. Half a day is enough for a swim and a look at the black sand.
Santo Domingo is a small coastal municipality on the eastern edge of Albay, 12 km from Legazpi. Its main draw is the black-sand beach on the Albay Gulf, where whale sharks are sometimes spotted. The town itself has a few resorts, a boulevard named after the classic Bicolano song Sarong Banggi, and an annual festival in May. Most travellers pass through on the way to Bacacay or Tabaco.
