Wasserbillig
Go for one night as a Moselle base, or skip if you want a town with a centre: Wasserbillig is a river junction with a ferry, a small aquarium and free trains.
Wasserbillig sits where the Sûre meets the Moselle, on the Luxembourg–Germany border, 30–40 minutes by train from Luxembourg City and about 20 minutes from Trier. It is a practical base for the Moselle wine road and the German side, not a sightseeing town: the aquarium, a riverside walk, a foot ferry to Oberbillig and a handful of places to eat. One night is enough; two if you cycle the river.

- The Oberbillig ferry is seasonal and stops in the evening: check the last crossing before you rely on it.
- Bike rental stations along the Moselle open seasonally and some have closed: confirm before you travel.
