Villa la Angostura is a small Andean town on Lake Nahuel Huapi, 80 km north of Bariloche and the practical base for Los Arrayanes National Park and Cerro Bayo. It is a 2–3 night stop, not a day trip: buses from Bariloche take about 1 h 30 min each way. Come Dec–Mar for lakes and trails, Jul–Aug for snow. Book beds ahead in January and the July school holidays.

Getting around
The centre is walkable. Bikes are the local standard for the Arrayanes trail and the Siete Lagos road; several shops on Avenida Arrayanes rent by the day. Taxis and remises handle the lake beaches and Cerro Bayo. In snow months you need chains or a shuttle for the ski road.
