Irvinestown is a small town on the north shore of Lower Lough Erne, 10 miles north of Enniskillen on the A32. Its draw is the surrounding lakeland: Castle Archdale country park, the ruined Necarne Castle, and the stone figures on Boa Island. Ulsterbus 194 reaches it hourly from Enniskillen in about 30 min, but the sights are scattered and a car or bike makes the day work.

A quiet rural town and one of the safer parts of the UK. The real risks are single-track lanes, uneven ground at ruins, and cold, wet weather that turns quickly.
  • Sights are spread over several miles of lanes: without a car or bike you will see very little.
