Concord is a fast-growing Charlotte suburb of about 107,000 people (2020) on Interstate 85, 30–40 minutes north of Uptown Charlotte. It holds the Charlotte Motor Speedway, a large outlet mall, an aquarium and two car museums, so it works as a one-day stop or a cheaper base for the metro. Downtown Concord is small and walkable; everything else needs a car.

A car is the practical default: sights sit along I-85 exits 49–58 and are 5–15 min apart by road. Concord Kannapolis Area Transit (ckrider) runs local buses and links to Kannapolis; CATS route 80x connects to Charlotte on weekdays only, geared to commuters, so it does not work for a day trip. Ride-hailing covers the mall and speedway but can be slow late at night.
