  • North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
  • North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
  • North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
  • United States ↗Check whether you need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) or a visa on the official CBP and State Department sites; apply only through esta.cbp.dhs.gov, not third-party sites, and allow time before you book.
  • United States ↗Several popular national parks use timed-entry or vehicle reservations in peak season; check each park's page on nps.gov and book on recreation.gov before fixing your dates.
  • United States ↗Medical care is very expensive for visitors; buy travel insurance with high medical cover before you fly.
  • United States ↗Tipping is expected: about 15–20% at sit-down restaurants and bars, and a tip for taxis, hotel staff and guides.

Riviera Beach is a working harbour city on the Lake Worth Lagoon, 12 miles north of Palm Beach International Airport off I-95 exit 76. Its draw is the water — Marina Village watersports, Peanut Island and the Singer Island oceanfront — plus Rapids Water Park inland. Sights are spread out, the Tri-Rail station is a bare platform in neighbouring Mangonia Park, and a car or rideshare makes the trip work.

Arrive & move

Airports are listed under At a glance; this is how to move once you are in

Getting around

A car is the practical choice: I-95 exit 76 (Blue Heron Boulevard) is the main entry, and Singer Island is reached over the Blue Heron bridge or from the north on SR A1A. Tri-Rail's nearest stop is Mangonia Park, a platform with a ticket machine and parking, several miles west of the beach — fine with a rideshare at both ends. PalmTran buses cover the mainland; the Peanut Island water taxi runs from the marina.

Watch out

Safety

Daytime marina, beach and park areas are busy and generally fine; use normal city sense after dark, keep valuables out of sight in cars, and treat summer heat and lightning as the real hazards.
  • Hurricane season runs Jun–Nov, peaking Aug–Oct: watch forecasts and know your hotel's refund policy.
  • Afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer; the Peanut Island water taxi will not sail in lightning or small-craft warnings.
  • The Kennedy bunker on Peanut Island ended public tours in 2017 and is not visitable.
  • Peanut Island camping is by reservation only, and gear shuttles must be arranged in advance.
  • Summer heat and strong sun: water, shade and reef-safe sunscreen.
